Cenk Ugyhur’s nephew is known mostly to Twitch streamers and political junkies, especially on the hard left, but recent antics broke through to become national stories.
When Cuba started running out of fuel earlier this year, Hassan Piker took a trip over there and did some streaming from one of the only buildings in the city that still had electricity. A posh 5-Star hotel. It seems we’ve now upgraded from champagne socialist to caviar commie. He’s a real man of the people.
The trip involved various other political fellow-travellers, including Code Pink, which has been accused by some of being little more than a CCP propaganda op.
Since people took notice of him, they started hearing about other things about him, from the story about the shock collar on his dog, to praise of Hamas and indifference to their barbaric sexual atrocities on 10/7 (whose premeditated and systematic nature is now being admitted even in Western media including the NYT), that ‘America Deserved 9/11’ and “Let the streets soak in the red, capitalist blood!”
His ‘Epstein’ pushback rings awfully hollow when you consider he has spoken of a German brothel he would frequent that was at the center of caught trafficking allegations. (Interestingly, the age of consent in German is either 14, or 16, depending on the region.)
Whether you take those statements at face value or not, he’s very much a political activist, he’s sitting pretty in a multi-million dollar home. He’s practically a meme when people post pictures of him wearing expensive fashion while reading Lenin on a flight.
Here he is suddenly taking a far less strident tone…

It’s not great, he says.
Funny thing is, all the evidence the government needed to move forward with a case against him was streamed live on his channel. He gave monologues before the trip. Timestamped meetings with other parties. Identifiable features with buildings. And so on.
When criticized for holing up in a 5-star hotel while the Cubans struggled in the dark, he claimed he HAD to stay there because of subtleties of US law. Interesting, that he made an admission about US law having something to say about what could and could not be done in Cuba.
If you want a breakdown of the undisputed facts that won’t fit in this article, this post goes into a detailed summary of undisputed facts, and the likelihood of legal jeopardy on Piker’s part:
Piker looks mighty piqued. Here’s why
I. The undisputed parts of the story.
Piker traveled to Havana between March 18 and 24, as part of the Nuestra América Convoy. This was a delegation organized through a coalition that included People’s Forum, the Venceremos Brigade,… https://t.co/XW2iW2FWQL— dan linnaeus (@DanLinnaeus) May 25, 2026
As one commenter said, this guy has such a long history of deliberately mischaracterizing other people’s quotes so he could attack them online, it’s hard to feel any sympathy for them.
