It’s easy to stand in a pulpit and waste everyone’s time. It’s amazing how many of today’s preachers follow exactly that script.
How many preachers out there are willing to preach difficult truths in plain language — with the kind of clarity to let the guy looking up at him realize: he means me and the change has to be now?
Anyone can agree to a generality of ‘don’t do bad things. What’s the first thing we all do when we hear a line like that? We start running through a mental list of all the things that other guy does to annoy us. What’s missing from that list? All the things that would put me right at the top of some other guy’s list.
Any half-assed coach could say ‘do better’. A good coach tells you what needs to be corrected, and how you get there.
Christian Ted Talks don’t change lives. The gospel, rightly told and understood, does.
