California’s Creepy New Homeless Plan… Just When You Thought They’d Hit Rock Bottom

Pratt ran on SOLVING the LA Homelessness crisis. The others are taking a very different approach.

And this one pushes the limits on how twisted we thought they could get.

The Los Angeles homelessness problem is long past being a ‘crisis’.

It’s becoming an anchor around the neck of the city, blowing a hole in the budget that won’t even put a dent in the actual problem.

Almost two years ago, the LA Times ran a story about just how hard it would be to take every homeless person in Los Angeles off the street and into a home.

City of Los Angeles officials are finally confronting a question that has seemed too big to answer: How much would it actually cost to get every person living on the street today indoors and make sure that no one languished there for years again?

The answer, in a report now circulating through City Hall, is a whopper: $21.7 billion over a decade. And since less than $7 billion of that sum is budgeted, local, state and federal governments would have to pony up three times what they’re planning. — LATimes

With California’s governmental track record of making every problem they ‘solve’ monumentally worse, that number is almost assuredly comically low by now. Money is short and the project is big. So how does a big city like Los Angeles grapple with such an insurmountable problem?

Well, they don’t follow the famous first rule of holes — if you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

If it was the sort of person our readers might vote for, it might involve a laser-focus of available homeless dollars to the most effective and proven approaches in determining which of the homeless need financial or educational bridging tools to help them reintegrate back to normal life, which have mental/medical issues, which have addictions issues, and which are career criminals?

Because the shortest path to a meaningful end to the crisis would obviously involve matching the right cause to the right solution. A laser focus on matching the needs to the solutions would go a long way to helping put a meaningful dent in the problem.

But what if they don’t REALLY want to solve it..?

I mean, we all saw the important role Skid Row played in the last mayoral election. Until the FBI sorts that problem out and makes some heads roll, this kind of societal dysfunction has actually been a very important tool for the amoral political class to pick up useful political leverage.

No. They don’t WANT to solve the problem. We know this by how they are spending the money.

Instead of directing the money on helping get people out of the difficult situation of homelessness, they are getting ready to build permanent facilities to make it more comfortable to remain homelessness.

Needs for food, clothing, and other necessaries are being offered to make the lives of homeless people better. It was only a matter of time until someone asked about improving their sex lives.

Los Angeles is a cesspool of deviancy.

On August 11, during the open comment portion of an LA City Council meeting, a man proposed taypayer funded "free hygenic sexual relief clinics," so homeless people can get sex on demand.

You can't make this crap up.

There’s always someone proposing a pilot project, isn’t there?

And if we’ve learned anything from hospice centers, learning centers and all the other NGOs that have found themselves under the microscope in the last few years the REAL point of many of these initiatives has little to do with the people they purport to serve and everything to do with what kind of car the program administrators find themselves driving.

You caught those last four words, didn’t you? ‘Managed with professional oversight.’

At the Taxpayers’ expense, of course.

Is there ANYTHING in this life the left doesn’t think should be micromanaged by the government?
Anything at all?
