Comedian Ryan Long does it again with his parody video mocking the squatting trend.
In the sketch, Long, posing as a real estate agent for squatters, shows his credentials to prospective customers. He talks to neighbors, scopes out potential homes, and even talks to travel agents to see if anyone is on a long vacation.
It’s absurd and it’s meant to be absurd.
But it’s not as absurd as the hoops that homeowners have to go through to get squatters out of their properties. That is a nightmare — and a costly one at that.
There have been multiple stories of squatters exploiting the laws on the books to steal homes as housing prices continue to climb.
- a multi-million dollar Beverley Hills mansion was turned into a party house by squatters
- brazen squatters providing a Shake Shack delivery receipt and other (allegedly) falsified documents to assert their claim on a $930K Jamaica, Queens property
- an army officer found her home taken over while she was on active duty
- the dark story of Nadia Vitels who was found beaten to death and stuffed in a duffel bag in her late mother’s upscale apartment.
And then there’s the problem of the illegal border crossers coming in and abusing this system just like they abuse the asylum laws.
- illegal aliens from Venezuela were found squatting in an NYC home with guns, drugs, and a 7-year-old child
- the offensive TikTok influencer and illegal migrant from Venezuela who encouraged fellow illegal border crossers to steal homes finding loopholes in U.S. law has finally been arrested and may be facing gun charges.
It’s clear that the squatting trend is at a tipping point and more jurisdictions need to take action and update the laws to stop the insanity the way that Florida just did.
Squatting is a massive problem and until there are harsh penalties for it, the trend will continue.
Until that time, we may as well find some humor in the absurdity of the Libs.
