So many of us understand the need for this shift, but so few of us actually DO it.
It’s a fact so obvious that we take it for granted in other areas in our lives… but somehow we think of faith as being in some other category.
If a losing team fires their coach and hires a new one, any player who told the new coach ‘that’s not how we do things around here’ would be benched until he realized that HE is part of the problem the coach was hired to fix.
If some 300-lb guy decides to get control of his life and hire a fitness coach, a big chunk of the coaching will focus on habits and understanding the attitudes that have been driving them.
If a hard drive gets hacked with malware, the tech will go through a process of identifying the corrupted programs, wiping them out and replacing them with others.
In other words, one of the biggest obstacles to a Christian’s success is a ‘software’ issue. Some preachers have called it by a pithier name, stinkin’ thinkin’.
Scripture calls it ‘the renewing of the mind’.
As one famous quote tells us, “We can not solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them”.
Now that we understand the problem we’re grappling with, how do we go about solving it?

While you’re at it, here’s his latest book:
Psalms of War: Prayers That Literally Kick Ass is a collection, from the book of Psalms, regarding how David rolled in prayer. I bet you haven’t heard these read, prayed, or sung in church against our formidable enemies — and therein lies the Church’s problem. We’re not using the spiritual weapons God gave us to waylay the powers of darkness. It might be time to dust them off and offer ‘em up if you’re truly concerned about the state of Christ’s Church and of our nation.
Also included in this book, Psalms of War, are reproductions of the author’s original art from his Biblical Badass Series of oil paintings.
This is a great gift for the prayer warriors. Real. Raw. Relevant.
