The Biden administration announced on Friday that it was pausing all pending approvals for liquefied natural gas exports.
In a statement on the White House website, Team Biden says the decision was due to the “climate crisis” and derided “MAGA Republicans” for “deny[ing] the urgency” of the alleged threat.
Ric Grenell, ex-diplomat and the former Director for National Intelligence for President Trump posted on X that “this is all politics” and that Biden is just pandering to his Leftist base.

According to the New York Times, a former newspaper, the Biden Climate Team met with activists before hitting the “pause” button that is likely the precursor to nixing LNG altogether as climate extremists want.
The Biden administration has been under fire from climate activists upset about the approval of the Willow drilling project in Alaska and the Mountain Valley Pipeline in West Virginia. Approving CP2 would have further enraged climate-conscious voters.
“When you look at TikTok and social media, the new voters who will be voting for a president for the first time in their lives, they are angry,” [activist Roishetta] Ozane told me. “They are not going to support this president unless he makes a bold move.”
Slow walking the approval process of CP2 is just what activists like Ozane were looking for.
While the determination was nominally about one project on the Gulf Coast, the move could have far-reaching implications. If the Biden administration decides that CP2 is not in the public interest, it is likely to come to a similar conclusion about 16 other proposed export terminals in the works.
Ahead of the decision, White House climate advisers met with activists like Alex Haraus, a 25-year-old Colorado social media influencer who has led a TikTok and Instagram campaign aimed at urging young voters to demand that Mr. Biden reject the project.
“And we absolutely will reward or punish him on this decision,” Haraus told Coral, referring to Biden.

The Daily Caller reports, “the 25-year-old TikTok influencer from Colorado who has organized an online campaign demanding that the administration kill the project.”
Basically, they’ve caved to activists for Big Green.
In doing so, they’ve given Vladimir Putin precisely what he wants — to corner the Natural Gas market.
Way to go, Joe!
