Gender reveal parties are supposed to be a celebration of life. Will it be a boy or a girl. We like to assume parental love is unconditional. How easy it is to forget that these attitudes are part of the Western Cultural inheritance.
Across the world, it was the spread of Christianity that valued the lives of ALL children, and ended the practice of leaving disabled or unwanted babies alone outdoors to die unspeakably horrible deaths. It was Christian influence that imprinted ALL human life with the imago dei regardless of health, sex, race, or social status.
What this video shows is part of a broader a cultural shift away from the view of life as precious, one in which sex-selective abortions so prevalent in the developing world is rearing its head domestically as well.
