The core argument of the Left’s defense of Planned Parenthood is that THEY are the great defenders of a woman’s final say in what the outcome of her pregnancy is.
What happens to that narrative if it can be proven that they really don’t care about what the woman wants, so long as they can bill for yet another procedure?
Because Planned Parenthood took a serious credibility hit when the ‘Baby Parts’ videos first came out — until Kamala Harris started running interference, and arresting the journalists who exposed the crass criminality of illegally selling fetal baby parts so they could — in the words of one Planned Parenthood manager — buy a Lambo.
But the left has been pressing hard to imprint the phrase ‘reproductive rights’ on the public consciousness, holding out Planned Parenthood as the last great defender of female autonomy in the face of (some version of) finger-wagging authoritarians who want nothing better than to micromanage the lives of women who find themselves with child, and ‘force them’ to give birth.
Leaving aside the gross representation of the real reasons Pro-Life activists object to abortion, serious cracks are forming in the mythology that’s been built up around Planned Parenthood as being the great defender of Women’s ‘Reproductive Freedom’.
If this class action suit succeeds, it will have shown that Planned Parenthood us just one more link in the chain of people exploiting women in an emotionally-vulnerable moment of their lives by putting their own agenda ahead of the patient’s concerns and needs.
The 80-page proposed class-action complaint was filed Monday in U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. It seeks to represent thousands of women who obtained abortions at the Planned Parenthood abortion centers within the last six years and names Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Planned Parenthood North Central States as defendants.
The women contend that Minnesota does not do enough to ensure that consent for abortion is fully informed and voluntary.

The lawsuit claims the abortions terminated the plaintiffs’ parental rights without adequate safeguards to confirm the decisions were free from coercion.
Pro-life advocates have long argued that abortion providers fail to screen for pressure from partners, family members or financial circumstances, leaving women to live with the consequences of decisions that were not truly their own.
Those claims align with research documenting widespread external pressure and lasting regret.

“Abortion clinics cannot claim to be pro-woman while at the same time allowing the majority of their clients to be pressured into unwanted abortions,” said David Reardon, Ph.D., lead author of the study and director of the Elliot Institute. “No woman should ever feel pressured into accepting an unwanted abortion. Clearly, abortion clinics need to provide better pre-abortion screening and counseling in order to prevent unsafe and unwanted abortions.”

It’s anybody’s guess how this case plays out as it winds through the courts over the coming years.
But if the plaintiffs win? That could be a massive blow both to the money-printing operation that factory-efficient abortion providers had become, and to the public reputation of those who align themselves with them.
Not to mention the untold lives that could be saved either by potential policy reforms, or even by a shift in public perception of what Planned Parenthood’s REAL interest in abortion has been all along.
For a decade or two now, any Democrat with pro life leanings has had their political aspirations strangled in the crib, as it were.
One unexpected outcome, if the Planned Parenthood donor money dries up, we might even come to a place where the Dems could even permit their candidates to hold a more traditional pro-life view. It’s been a minute since the party stomped the life out of any elected members holding that conviction.
