The same storm that has been causing chaos and flooding in LA made for bad conditions in the mountains made for bad conditions in the mountains.
A helicopter carrying 5 Marines went missing en route to San Diego this past Tuesday night. As of yesterday, the helicopter was found in a remote part of the mountains, but no word was given about the condition of the Marines.
The Marines, who had been returning to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar from Creech Air Force Base near Vegas went down in bad weather.
Today, we have the answer to the question about those missing Marines.
“It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I share the loss of five outstanding Marines from 3d Marine Aircraft Wing and the “Flying Tigers,” Maj. Gen. Michael J. Borgschulte, commander of 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, said in a statement. — AP
Names have not yet been released.
The downed aircraft was an CH-53E Super Stallion.
