Last week, we heard about the bus crash that killed five people, including a family of four, in Virginia. Questions were raised about the driver and whether he should have had been given a Commercial Driver’s Licence.
Now, questions are being asked about how a naturalized citizen that doesn’t speak the language got one in the first place. And New York is NOT cooperating as the DOT looks for answers and accountability.

Update on the tragic bus crash in Virginia:
Five people are dead, including a 13-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy, after the driver of a motorcoach slammed into stopped traffic on I-95.

Local police confirm the driver of this motorcoach — a man from China who became a U.S. citizen — doesn’t speak English. He received his commercial drivers license from New York State in 2024.
Unacceptable. This is exactly why we are holding states’ accountable, enforcing the rules of the road, and cracking down on drivers who can’t speak English.
If you can’t be properly trained, read our road signs, or communicate with law enforcement, you have no business driving a bus.
Our investigators are reviewing New York licensing records, training documentation, and the driver’s history. Any company, trainer, or school that contributed to putting an unqualified driver on the road will face intense scrutiny.

With four fatalities connected to the shady licensure of a man with no mastery of English, you might think New Yorkers would be concerned about the hazards that led to such a preventable tragedy.
In sanctuary cities like New York, caring for the safety of millions of unsuspecting motorists on the nation’s highways take second billing to kissing the ring of unfettered illegal immigration, whatever the consequences.
As we saw with California — if that means falsifying English proficiency testing, so be it.
Unfortunately for all of the co-conspirators putting commercial licences into the hands of the unqualified, bureaucracy is famous for building a paper trail. And with five fatalities to account for, hard questions have been asked.
New York is trying hard not to answer them. Per Bill Melugin:
BREAKING: The US Department of Transportation confirms to @FoxNews that they have issued a subpoena to the state of NY after they allege the state has refused to cooperate with their investigation into Jing Shen Dong, the bus driver who allegedly caused a crash that killed five people in Stafford County, VA on Friday morning. DOT says Dong is a naturalized US citizen who was born in China, doesn’t speak English, and received his commercial driver’s license (CDL) from the state of New York. DOT says the subpoena is a result of not being able to “obtain the requested documents through other reasonable means.” DOT is demanding that New York turn over records on Dong’s CDL, his entry level driving training, and the driving school he attended. DOT says those documents must be turned over by Wednesday at 10AM ET, or face consequences/penalties.
